I remember when I was younger being told I was too serious, too intense – too deep! And thinking what does that mean? I’m just asking questions and being me. I really was intense. I was interested in what makes people tick, how relationships hang together and why we do the things we do. At 40 I’m still the same. Maybe with a bit more of a relaxed approach to it (knowing others don’t like it sometimes and it can be exhausting), I choose my times now I suppose. But the big (and small) questions still remain in my head and sometimes they spill out of my mouth.
Part of my search for answers has led me to look at the meaning of life – not 42 as you may think. I know I’ve not written about this before but I want to today. I’ve been around church and Christianity all my life. As a little child I was taken to church every week and never really knew any different. Then as a teenager I started to ask the questions – what was it all about? How come my friends didn’t believe? Could there be another way to live?
I did of course for years try the going to church thing but not really living as a Christian the rest of the week. Didn’t really work as the questions and the lack of integrity started to play on my mind. Eventually I put my hat in the ring and said – regardless of the questions with no answers I know that God is real and that without Him my life would be meaningless.
Recently at our church we’ve started to sing a new song that has created a stir amongst us. For me this song (link below) goes deeper than normal songs. It’s about the love God has for all of us – whether you believe or not He loves you! The link below is about the story of the song by the guy who wrote it and he tells of the great tragedy that provoked this song.
My request I suppose to you while you listen to this is that whilst there are many questions in life we can’t answer – why do bad things happen? How come God seems so far away when we really need Him? What makes this life so damn difficult at times for us to live? – there is HOPE. God is real and He cares greatly for you and your life. Whatever is happening for you now I hope this reaches you and shows you just how deep God’s love is for you.

How He loves us
